History

In 1994, the pastors of three local churches - Calvary Baptist, First Baptist, and Fellowship Baptist - took a long, analytical look at their congregations and the community as a whole. Their congregations were filled with wonderful, Christian families, but the pastors soon realized that their congregations included only a small subset of the Washington County population.

How, they wondered, could they build a ministry to encompass the entire community? They envisioned a world in which Christians of all races, ethnicities, and cultural and economic backgrounds would join together for fellowship and support.

Together, the three pastors launched the inception of Mission Brenham, with the help of Independence Association, the Brenham Housing Authority, and the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

Mission Brenham hired Marcus Lawhon as Director in 1995, to manage its daily operations and provide spiritual guidance. Since that time, we have worked to establish relationships of trust and support throughout the community.

Today, our ministry continues to grow in both strength and spirit.
